Island images from Volume II (below) – the first of the images below, Moai Ahu O Hanga Kioe, was left out of the first book because it, totally unconsciously on my part, far to much mirrors Fred Picker's cover shot from his 1974 book. Both the perspective and the angle of the sun bear striking similarities. The second, Manavai and Raraku is a shot I would definitely have made room for if I hadn't overlooked it. It's a large print and one of my favorites. The third, Moko simply wouldn't stand up to size requirements. It is a small, iPhone camera shot that I succeeded in milking a great, if very small image from. The remainder emerged from later reviews of the approximately thirty thousand exposures made on the Island.
